SL 2 - 4/22/13

On with review - day by day. Please note that this time is for you to review. The idea is for you to go through papers, do the problems, see where you are and then go through the markscheme and fully understand the solution, going back to principles in the book or elsewhere if you are unclear. Class time is for specific questions only on those issues that you cannot figure out on your own. It is not a set of presentations going back over the whole course as that will not help you learn what you need to know. Out of respect for your classmates, please prepare for class accordingly. See you in class.

On Monday we'll take a quiz on non-right angle triangle trig - mainly focusing on areas of triangles, the Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines. Then we'll jump into more advanced trig, looking at sine and cosine etc. as functions of *time* or some other independent variable that may not be obviously related to an angle.

I'll return your Exploration drafts and we'll continue to work on those through the end of the year. See you in class.

SL 1 - 4/1/13

Moving on, this week we'll look more at the unit circle and our foundational ideas. We'll also look at using trig in non-right triangles and a couple other applications. We'll get a day for review and a quiz on Thursday. We're at the point where you can begin doing some real IB practice problems. Be sure to do those as we go along as they give you the best sense of what is expected.

This is a light week - the best time to really focus on your explorations, the draft of which is due a week from Thursday.. Final is due 4/30 - dates are shown below. See you in class.
